SAYA! Youth participate in National Rally for Immigration Reform |

 New York – Over 50 South Asian Youth Action (SAYA!) youth and staff joined the MinKwon Center for Community Action and thousands of immigrants from across the country in a historic national march for immigration reform in Washington D.C.
Called the March for America’s Future, the rally was organized to send a clear message to President Obama to end deportations and raids that tear working families apart, to pass immigration reform that gives 11 million undocumented immigrations a path to citizenship and to strengthen our economy by creating jobs for all Americans.
For some youth it was their first time to the nation’s capital.
Amanda Seecharan, a SAYA! youth and junior at Richmond Hill High School commented, “I will never forget our trip DC. There were so many people waving flags and chanting slogans in different languages. As a young person marching, I was part of history. I was proud that such a diverse nation could come together and stand united. I will also remember the bus ride from New York to Washington D.C. There was so much excitement and as a group, we became stronger.”
Transportation and coordination for the trip was provided by the MinKwon Center for Community Action in Flushing.
